Quartet sign on until summer 2023

Berwick Rangers have started their preparation for the 2021/22 Lowland League campaign and beyond after tying down quartet Jordan Sinclair, David Ferguson, Jack Cook and Craig Reid on deals until summer 2023.

Midfielder Jordan Sinclair, 24, joined the club last summer from Edinburgh City FC and started his ‘Gers career in fine form, netting two fantastic free-kicks against Vale of Leithen and Caledonian Braves before spending a number of weeks on the sidelines through injury.

He returned to action shortly before the most recent halting of the season due to COVID-19 and, after signing on until summer 2023, he said: “I’ve really enjoyed my first season at Berwick so far apart from everything that’s gone on with COVID-19.

“It makes me really happy to be extending my stay and signing a two-year contract. I’m really looking to seeing our fans back in the ground and hopefully we can kick on as team for the rest of this season and beyond.”

David Ferguson heads up a trio of defenders who have joined Sinclair in signing two-year contracts, although in his time at the club so far, the 24-year-old has shown he’s equally adept at slotting in alongside Sinclair in central midfield if required.

After impressing in three matches as a trialist, the last of which he scored a last-gasp winner in the 3-2 victory over University of Stirling, the former Motherwell first-teamer signed on the dotted line for the Dream Team and, in including his matches as a trialist, he has made 11 appearances so far this season in all competitions.

Next to sign-on is Jack Cook, 23, who will continue to be the club’s longest serving player having joined the club way back in January 2017.

In that time, he has racked up more than 70 appearances for the ‘Gers, including four this season – which he started in fine form before a nasty head injury ruled him out up until the recent COVID-19 break.

Craig Reid, 22, is the final player to extend his stay until summer 2023. Signed from Newtongrange Star last summer, the defender has been one of the team’s most consistent performers throughout the season to date and has racked up 11 appearances in all competitions.

Speaking about signing on at Shielfield Park for another two years, Reid said: “I’ve loved my first season at what is such a great club.

“Unfortunately, I picked up an injury just before the most recent break, but I can’t wait to get back playing. I had an MRI scan recently and now it’s just a case of giving my back the time it needs to recover.”
