Berwick sign two more for next season

‘Gers boss Ian Little has today continued preparation for the club’s 2021-2022 campaign by tying down two bright prospects until Summer 2022.

John Ward (17), who is sponsored by fan Josh Turnbull, has put pen to paper on a one-year contract extension having joined Berwick in November 2020.

Since signing, John has picked up valuable experience of first-team senior football having started four matches and making an additional appearance as a substitute.

In his short time with the club, John has shown plenty of potential down the left flank, demonstrating his attacking flair with two debut assists against Upper Annandale as well as setting up a memorable goal against Cumbernauld Colts; playing a key role in a classy counter-attacking move.

John will now be looking to use the next year of his career to continue his development, earn more game time and help the ‘Gers to improved results on the field.

Also joining John, Jordan Sinclair, David Ferguson, Jack Cook and Craig Reid in committing to a future in Black and Gold is 16 year-old new addition, Ciaran Heeps.

A left-footed attacking midfielder, Ciaran was previously in the youth systems of Hutchison Vale and Rangers and will officially join the club this Summer.

Standing at 6 foot 3 inches tall, Ciaran is already a physical presence and has been training with the club since as far back as September 2020.

His ability caught the eye of ‘Gers management team, with the midfielder set to agree terms earlier in the season only for the campaign to be put on hold due to Covid-19.

The club looks forward to welcoming the pair to Shielfield Park, with preparation for next season continuing at a rapid pace as Ian Little and his management team look to enter a new campaign on a solid footing.
