SFA announce three-week play suspension

Following a meeting conducted yesterday evening (Monday 11th January), the Scottish Football Association has agreed to implement a three-week suspension across football at all levels beneath the SPFL Championship in light of the escalating Covid-19 situation.

In a decision designed to help protect the interests of public health, including that of ‘Gers players and officials, the SFA worked with the Joint Response Group and Scottish Government amongst others to arrive at the conclusion that an enforced break would be in the best interests of all.

The suspension will come into force tonight from midnight, meaning the club’s rescheduled trip to Gala Fairydean Rovers tomorrow evening has once again been postponed.

With the suspension due to be lifted on January 31st, Berwick’s upcoming home fixtures with Caledonian Braves and Spartans as well as an away trip to East Stirlingshire have also been affected, with new dates to be confirmed in due course.

And while the initial restart date has been set for February 1st, the suspension will be reviewed on a rolling basis by the SFA board in partnership with the Scottish Government.
