BSC Glasgow fixture postponed

The rearranged Lowland League game, due tomorrow, Saturday 9th January, between Berwick Rangers and BSC Glasgow has been postponed, with a Friday afternoon call off rather than waiting until Saturday morning.

Berwick Secretary Dennis McCleary explained:

“Yesterday morning we had snow on top of a hard frost on the Shielfield pitch, then followed by heavy rain.

“Given the predicted overnight temperatures on Friday into Saturday of anywhere between minus 5 and minus 7, it made sense to look at the position today, with both clubs liaising with the SLFL and making the call Friday afternoon instead of Saturday first thing.

“Temperatures on Saturday morning, after the hard frost predicted overnight, are not to rise in any significant way and there is simply no chance the ground would be fit under these circumstances”

The match was brought forward by the SLFL from the original date of Saturday 27th March, so it would seem likely the game will go back to that date, subject to confirmation.

Refunds for stream and match day extra purchasers will be issued shortly.

Berwick’s next scheduled fixture is now this Tuesday 12th January, when we are scheduled to travel to Gala Fairydean Rovers in another rescheduled fixture. No match stream will be available for this match, though the club hopes to provide live updates through its social platforms.
