Kay returns, Orr leaves on loan

Berwick Rangers can confirm two changes to the squad, both in the goalkeeping department.

Goalkeeper Thomas Kay returns to Stuart Malcolm’s Berwick squad following a spell at Fauldhouse United. Kay, aged 17, signed for Berwick in the summer from Kerse United, but has been at ‘The Hoose’ in the East of Scotland Football League 3rd Division for most of the season. The young shot-stopper goes straight into the Berwick squad for Saturday’s home tie against Cumbernauld Colts.

Thomas spoke to us ahead of his return to the club, saying, ‘I enjoyed my time at Fauldhouse and it was good to get back playing. Now I am looking forward to getting back down to Berwick with the rest of the boys in the squad.’

Fellow goalie Dylan Orr, 20 years’ old, departs Shielfield temporarily this evening on a 1-month loan to Kilwinning Rangers in the West of Scotland Premier Division. Orr has been a regular in the Berwick matchday squad but has only featured in 1 game so far this season, against Stoneyburn Juniors in the East of Scotland Cup. Orr was another summer signing for Berwick, from East Kilbride where he featured consistently in their development team last season. Orr will be available for Kilwinning’s South of Scotland Cup tie tomorrow against Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale.

The club would like to offer a warm welcome back to Thomas, and wish Dylan all the best for his loan spell.

Berwick Rangers’ next home game, as mentioned above, is this Saturday, against Cumbernauld Colts, 3pm kickoff. The JB Lounge will be open to all supporters from 1.30pm tomorrow, with teas, coffees, soft and alcoholic drinks, hot dogs, pies and snacks for sale.
