Denholm joins the Dream Team

Ahead of tonight’s Scottish Cup first roud clash with Gretna 2008, set to be broadcast live on BBC Scotland and kicking off at 7:45pm, the club is pleased to confirm the addition of Aidan Denholm in a loan deal from Heart of Midlothian until January.

A midfielder, Aidan will be available for tonight’s game and is in contention to feature following a raft of injuries to manager Stuart Malcolm’s squad. Club officials would like to thank Heart of Midlothian for their assistance in helping make a deal happen.

Denholm, 17, was handed his first professional deal at the age of sixteen at Tynecastle Park having progressed through the Jambos’ youth system. Aidan made his first-team debut back in July, replacing Gary Mackay-Steven in a Scottish League Cup fixture against Cove Rangers, a game which saw Hearts run out as 3-0 winners on the day.

The youngster has also featured prominently for Hearts B in the SPFL Trust Trophy, most notably netting a sublime goal against Hamilton Academical following a drive from within his own half, culminating in a 20-yard finish into the bottom corner.

There will be a second new face in the squad tonight too, with Thomas Kay set to deputise on the bench following a hand injury to goalkeeper Ben Swinton. The club would like to thank his club Kerse United, who have allowed the club to sign him in an emergency deal ahead of tonight’s fixture. Thomas is expected to return to Kerse following the fixture.

The club would like to welcome Aidan and Thomas, and look forward to welcoming them to Shielfield Park tonight. We hope to see you there, too!
