Calum Smith renews terms with the ‘Gers
Berwick Rangers are delighted to confirm that striker Calum Smith will link up with the squad for the 21/22 campaign after the experienced frontman put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.
A popular figure with the fans, Smith is a hard-working striker who works hard for the team, and won the most Social Media Man of the Match awards during last season’s shortened campaign for his tireless efforts.
The forward finished his season at Gayfield, where he would work under Dick Campbell tutelage and alongside former ‘Gers David Gold and Michael McKenna for SPFL Championship side, Arbroath. Unfortunately, Calum didn’t manage to make an appearance while on loan but offered good competition to help spur the Smokies to a 7th placed finish.
Calum was sponsored by David Proudfoot and his son Adam last campaign, and will now be looking to boost his goals haul for the club after a solid first year at Shielfield Park.
The renewal of Calum’s contract represents the third move new manager Stuart Malcolm has made to strengthen his squad, having yesterday added Jamie Pyper and convinced Ryan Finnie to sign a new deal.
Supporters can help the gaffer to acquire his next targets by contributing to the playing budget via Transfer Draw ticket purchases.
The next draw takes place this Friday (11th June), with 50% of profits going to the draw winner and the other half going directly into Stuart’s budget for the new campaign.
