Earlier this year, MGM Sports Coaching launched a weekly Walking Football session. Originally hosted at Longridge Towers school, the sessions now take place at Old Shielfield every Monday evening from 6-7pm.
People of all ages, sizes and abilities are encouraged to come along and play, get fit and enjoy a session where the emphasis is on fun. It costs just £4 to participate with equipment and bibs provided.
Back in January, organiser Matty Moor revealed: “It’s great fun. The ‘walking’ element allows for the creation of a level playing field for all involved. The beauty of that is that it helps to ensure a competitive environment for all players.
“But there’s no doubt it’s very testing, too. You must constantly think about your movement to try stay one step ahead of the game. There’s an arguement that by slowing things down, it introduces a more tactical battle.
“And of course, because of your constant movent, it makes for a great cardiovascular workout, too!”
Players are asked to enter via Gate A (Ducket side). For more information on the sessions, contact Matty on 07470 032 678.
