Stevenson departs Shielfield

Versatile defender Jamie Stevenson has left the Berwick Rangers squad, with the 39 year-old ending his contract due to personal circumstances making it difficult for him to travel to training and matches.

Stevenson appeared 46 times for Berwick across the previous two seasons, scoring two memorable long-range goals against Broomhill and East Stirlingshire last year. This  season, the former Peterhead, Greenock Morton and Alloa player has featured in 15 of Berwick’s 20 competitive games, with 13 starts.

Berwick Rangers manager Thomas Scobbie was full of praise for the departing Stevenson, saying, ‘Jamie is a great professional, and someone who has been fantastic not just on the pitch but also in the changing room. I wish him all the best going forward and thank Jamie for everything he has given to the club.’

All at the club echo the words of our manager, and also wish to pass on our very best wishes to Jamie for the future. We would also like to thank Graham and Rory Ambrose for their sponsorship of Jamie this season.

Also leaving the club is winger Seff Khyyam, who featured 9 times for Berwick Rangers in recent months, with 5 of those appearances coming from the substitutes’ bench. The club thanks Seff for his effort, and wish him the best in the next steps of his footballing journey.

While it is always a shame to see players leave, we look forward to bringing you details of a contract extension for one of the team’s regular starters very soon.
