Statement from Club Chairman Len Eyre

Chairman’s Statement:

I must have been the most relieved person in Berwick at 4.50pm on Saturday.

The result of Saturday’s match against Edinburgh City had brought about a sense of great relief throughout the Borough of Berwick. It would have been unthinkable if Berwick Rangers had gone out of the League, in my opinion they wouldn’t have got back. It would have been detrimental to the Town and any plans the Football Club would like to pursue.

A huge thank you must go out to the fans it was a tremendous effort from Berwick Rangers Supporters that attended the match in large numbers to give their support to the team and the manager and his staff. This gesture certainly in my opinion gave the players the lift that was required to carry out the task of staying in the League.

It is convenient for the Football Club that John Coughlin is full time Manager as he supervises the newly formed Football Academy and the coaching of the Development Squad. At present John is repairing the roofs as he is a fully qualified roofer, which is saving the Football Club a tremendous amount of money.

Going forward into next season we have to put this season behind us and all factions of Berwick Rangers Football Club forget their differences and all pull together and get fully behind the team, manager and his staff so that Berwick Rangers can move forward into the 2017 / 2018 season with confidence.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Main Sponsor, Playing Kit Sponsors, Advertising Boards and all our other match day sponsors.

A thank you must go out to all Berwick Rangers Staff and a special thank you must go to all the unpaid volunteer staff and stewards who turn up to our matches in all weather. Also a special thank you to the unpaid volunteers who turn up to help carry out pitch repairs in all weathers.

Without these volunteers Berwick Rangers Football Club would cease to function.

Next season starts now with all the preparations required to operate a Senior Football Club. So it’s onwards and upwards by all concerned to make Berwick Rangers Football Club a force to be reckoned with in the 2017 / 2018 season.

I hope everyone has a good closed season and look forward to seeing everyone back at Shielfield in July.
