Berwick Rangers can confirm this evening that Euan Smith, Kevin Waugh, Ali Forster, Dan Purves, Sam Daniel and Jack Wright, have all penned deals for the 2020/21 season.
The signings were revealed by Assistant Manager Kevin Haynes on the inaugural episode of the Let It BRFC podcast, with the players joining Grant Rose and January signing Calum Smith as next season’s squad begins to take shape.
With the exception of Daniel, who joined the club a few weeks before the COVID-19 enforced suspension of football in Scotland, all of the re-signed players have featured in double-digit games for the ‘Gers this season, with Haynes stressing the importance of tying down players to gain some momentum going into the next campaign.
“It’s important for us to build a strong core of players, which is something we didn’t have when myself and Yano (Ian Little) arrived with only three or four players remaining following the club’s relegation,” said the Assistant Manager.
“With these eight players, who now know each other well having played together all season, I believe this goes some way to ensuring we have that strong core in place and their commitment shows that they’re buying into what we’re trying to do here.”
“They’re all talented lads with great attributes, which is why we moved early to re-sign them and, in the coming weeks, hopefully we’ll be able to deliver some more good news on the player front.”
Over the next few days, we hope to bring you interviews with each of the re-signed players on their new deals at the club and their hopes and aims for the 2020/21 season – so stay tuned!
