Scott-Taylor MacKenzie to join the ‘Gers

Continuing weeks of work to prepare his side for the new season, manager Ian Little today secured his second new addition for the 2021/2022 campaign after Scott-Taylor MacKenzie agreed terms on a pre-contract agreement and after the club notified his current side and the Football Association in accordance with the relevant SFA Registration Rules.

Currently with Gala Fairydean Rovers, MacKenzie has been one of the league’s stand out players this campaign netting no less than 8 goals in 12 appearances; a figure that places him joint 3rd in the list Lowland League of top goalscorers, and joins the club on a deal lasting until Summer 2023 .

Previously in the youth systems of Livingston and St Johnstone, the midfielder picked up his first experience in the senior game with Lothian Thistle before joining Kelty Hearts in July 2017.

After nearly two seasons with the Jambos, the talented left-footer agreed to join Gala Fairydean Rovers in March 2019 where he has found form and regular game time in midfield. A danger from set-pieces as well as open play, Scott-Taylor netted this effort against Bo’ness in December 2020, demonstrating his technical ability.

The 24 year-old joins Ciaran Heeps as a new addition ahead of the club’s next campaign, with the pair set to join up with Dougie Horne, Craig Reid, David Ferguson, Jack Cook, John Ward, Jordan Sinclair, Lewis Barr, Jack Wright and Lewis Allan in the squad for the club’s next campaign.

Manager Ian Little said: “Scott will be a great addition to our team. He brings good experience in this league for a young lad.

“He’s a very composed player with a good passing ability and carries a goal threat, particularly from set-pieces. He’s a player we can see has a great desire in the game and who wants to help drive the club forward.

“And with eight goals from midfield this season, we hope he can continue that goalscoring form at Shielfield Park.”

All at the club would like to extend a warm welcome to Scott-Taylor and look forward to seeing him in the Black & Gold next season.

In the case that the current season is completed, the midfielder might yet come up against the ‘Gers in Lowland League action prior to joining the club with both home and away fixtures yet to be played against Gala Fairydean.
