Preview: Bo’ness Utd v Berwick Rangers

After a hard-earned point in a goalless draw at BSC Glasgow last weekend, Berwick will be hoping for another resolute performance when they travel to face unbeaten Bo’ness United.

The hosts have made an exceptional start to life in the Lowland League following promotion from the East of Scotland Premier League, winning four and drawing one of their opening five matches – albeit four of those five matches have been at Newtown Park.

In the team’s last outing, they lost their 100% record, drawing 1-1 with Civil Service Strollers after taking the lead before going down to ten men, with the visitors equalising. Based on the current league table, the ‘Gers should technically post the toughest test so far for the league newcomers too, with the BUs’ five matches so far having all been against teams currently 11th or lower in the table.

Berwick Rangers Team News

Manager Ian Little continues to be without key men Lewis Barr and Kevin Waugh, this one coming too soon for the latter to return despite a recent return to full training, while the former continues to rehabilitate while being involved in light training.

Jack Cook also remains sidelined following the head injury he picked up in the defeat to East Kilbride, while central midfielder – and current top scorer – Jordan Sinclair is out with a rib injury.

Bo’ness Utd Team News

The BUs will be without central midfielder Craig Comrie for the match after he was sent off in the 1-1 draw against Civil Service Strollers. The Utd team also includes former ‘Gers favourite and right-back Devon Jacobs, who featured more than 100 times for the club in three full seasons from 2012/13 to 2014/15.

Bo’ness have scored 13 goals in their five matches so far – with two 4-0 wins over Vale of Leithen and Edinburgh University respectively. The goalscoring threats come from all over the park for the home side though, with eight different goalscorers already this campaign.
