Preview: Berwick Rangers v Edinburgh University AFC

Berwick will be looking to get back on track when they welcome bottom side Edinburgh University to Shielfield Park on Tuesday night.

Both sides were on the end of defeats on Saturday – The Dream Team losing a tough game 1-0 to East Kilbride, while Edinburgh were defeated 3-0 at Cumbernauld Colts.

Edinburgh University are one of five Lowland League sides without a point and, along with Caledonian Braves, are yet to register a goal this season.

The two sides met twice last year with Berwick winning both ties – 1-0 at East Peffermill for the ‘Gers only away league win last season and 2-0 in the final home game before the pandemic in February.

Berwick Rangers Team News

After Saturday’s bruising encounter with East Kilbride, Berwick boss Ian Little has some selection issues.

Craig Reid’s red card during the East Kilbride defeat means he is suspended, while fellow defender Jack Cook – who picked up both Sponsor’s Man of the Match and Social Media Man of the Match at the weekend – is out with a concussion.

The game comes too early for both Lewis Barr and Kevin Waugh who are both working their way back to full fitness. Barr is back in light training from his ankle injury, while Waugh is back in full training this week after his hamstring problem.

Ex-Uni man Jo Purves is in line to face his former side as well.

Edinburgh Uni Team News

Despite being bottom of the table and goalless, Edinburgh University have not been Lowland League whipping boys. Three of their four games have been against sides with 100% records, including last season’s champions Kelty Hearts.

They have been tough to break down with East Stirlingshire only able to break them down after they had a man sent off, while league leaders Bo’ness United were held until the 43rd minute.

Patrick Baird and Santeri Kuivalainen will provide danger going forward for the Uni.

Admission

The game is once again available for fans to stream. The cost is £6 which includes a digital match programme. It can be purchased HERE.

Fans who purchased the East Kilbride stream will be emailed a discount code which will allow them to receive 50% off as an apology for streaming issues from Saturday.

The club again encourages fans to purchase the stream as early as possible so that the club can offer any support should it be required.
