Paul Willis joins Albion Rovers
Paul Willis won’t be returning to the club next season after League Two champions Albion Rovers announced his signing on their website earlier today.
The 23-year-old has signed a one-year deal for Darren Young’s men as they prepare for their League One campaign and will leave a significant void in the ‘Gers midfield – having featured 44 times last season – more than any other player.
Of those 44 appearances, 40 were starts, while he also featured in all seven games of the team’s journey to the Scottish Cup quarter-finals.
With 10 goals, Willis was also the club’s joint-second top scorer alongside Lee Currie, four behind Darren Lavery’s total of 14.
As a result of his impressive contribution to the side last year, Willis was recognised by the club’s fans at the end of the season, picking up Social Media Player of the Year award, while he also collected the Steven Mitchell Memorial award.
