Match Preview : Cowdenbeath v Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two
Berwick Rangers will make the journey to Cowdenbeath FC this weekend in the first fixture since the departure of John Coughlin as manager. This Ladbrokes League Two fixture will commence at Central Park at 3.00pm on Saturday 26th August.
Both teams have had challenging starts to the season and sit in 5th and 9th place in the League Two table respectively.
The self proclaimed Blue Brazil have taken four points in their three outings thus far this season and will be looking to increase the pressure on managerless Rangers. Billy Brown’s men have had a tight start to the season with only four goals being scored collectively in the three league games, currently boasting the joint best defensive record in the league. They have also faced tough tests against higher division opposition already this season, with three battles against the teams from Dundee in the cup competitions.
Despite recent changes The ‘Gers will travel with some optimism having won at Central Park on both visits last season. The most recent triumph came in a 0-1 victory with Steven Thomson bagging the winner.
Berwick Rangers Team News:
The ‘Gers will be managed at the weekend by a combination Myles Allan, Jonathan Craig and long serving player Steven Notman. Notman is injured for the game and will therefore be unavailable for selection.
One man who may be pushing for a start is Daniel Watt, who will be looking for inclusion having scored four times in mid-week for the Development squad.
Cowdenbeath Team News:
Billy Brown will be looking to continue from the last home game, where a goal from former ‘Ger Ben Stirling goal (on his home debut) was enough to beat Edinburgh City. Stirling will be available again for selection having missed the mid-week cup game whilst representing parent club Hibernian.
David Syme is also available, having served a suspension. Recent signing Brad Smith will also be in the squad.
