Match Preview : Annan Athletic v Berwick Rangers – Ladbrokes League Two
Saturday marks the first set of fixtures in November for League Two and it also represents the third meeting of the season between Annan and Berwick at Galabank. The battle of the Black & Golds kicks off at 3pm, with both sides having met as recently as 14th October in the Scottish Cup.
Both prior games this season were played at Shielfield Park with a 1-5 hammering in August seeing the end of John Coughlin’s second stint as ‘Gers manager.
Berwick, under the guidance of new manager Robbie Horn, triumphed 1-0 in the more recent cup encounter.
Peter Murphy and his side will be looking to repeat the League Two fixtures at Galabank last season when they came out on top on both occasions.
This game is expected to be a tight affair with both clubs currently occupying 6th and 7th in the League Two table respectively.
Berwick News
Robbie Horn has reported that all squad members are seemingly fit and ready for selection, with Kevin McKinlay and Jonny Fairbairn likely to have recovered from a slight knock and the flu.
Horn will be hoping that the swirling wind is less of a factor on the game than it was last weekend when conditions proved difficult for both sides.
Our manager even scored in a victory at Annan a while back so has fond memories of this fixture!
Annan Athletic
Peter Murphy will be looking for a bit more creativity from his side. Annan’s last four games have all finished 1-0 one way or another, a run stretching back to September.
Murphy will need to decide whether to start with ex-Berwick forward Blair Henderson who started last weekend but hasn’t found the net since the 1-5 beating of Berwick back in August.
Annan will once again be looking to Aidan Smith to supply the goals, with the forward having found the net 6 times already in 2017/18.
Odds
Match sponsors Ladbrokes have this one as follows;
Annan – 10/11
Draw – 5/2
Berwick 12/5
Admission
Annan will be allowing admission for £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.
Officials
Mike Roncone will be the man in the middle this Saturday. He will be supported by Willie Conquer and Eddie Ferguson on the lines.
The club wish all travelling supports a safe journey and hope that you all enjoy the game. Please give Robbie and the boys all the support you can as we look to record back to back league victories for the first time this season.
Let’s hope there’s another moment or decision in our favour for the club to start a second week as a topic of international viral debate!
See you at the game.
