Malcolm adds another Baker

Berwick Rangers are pleased to confirm the addition of another new addition after Kyle Baker put pen to paper on a deal with the club today.

Kyle, 21, is the younger brother of ‘Gers forward Lewis Baker and joins after impressing as a trialist last weekend in an appearance against Stenhousemuir.

The left-footer is a highly-rated prospect and caught the eye of many clubs – including SPFL sides, having netted 13 goals and laying on another 13 in just 27 appearances last season – a statistic made all the more impressive by the fact he primarily featured from left back.

Manager Stuart Malcolm said: “Kyle came to our attention through his brother Lewis. He had been playing for Cupar Hearts and had been attracting a lot of recognition over the last couple of seasons thanks to his performances. We as a team did our home work on him ,speaking to those we know around him and everything we heard was positive. We took the decision to invite Kyle into training and he was exceptional. He has a great set of attributes. A great set of legs, a lovely left foot, technically good and his attitude is second to none. We obviously got a further look at him in last weekends 1-1 draw and we chose to act quickly to get him signed up. There was stiff competition from league clubs but we are delighted he thought the best place for him right now, was to join us here at Berwick”

The club would like to wish Kyle a warm welcome to Shielfield Park, where he will be for tomorrow afternoon’s 2pm clash with Consett AFC.
