Lowland League Cup draw

Yesterday the Lowland League Cup draw was made, after confirmation was received that a group stage would take place prior to a knockout format later in the tournament, following a vote from member clubs. The tournament returns following a two-year hiatus.

In the draw, Berwick Rangers have been grouped up with Bonnyrigg Rose, Gala Fairydean Rovers and Vale of Leithen.

However, in an added complexity, Bonnyrigg Rose may opt to withdraw from the competition if they are crowned Lowland League champions prior to the start of the tournament, which might instead allow them to better focus on the promotion play-offs they’d enter should they lift the Lowland League.

Provisional fixtures will see Berwick host Bonnyrigg and Gala, and travel away to Vale of Leithen. A further update on fixtures will be shared once fixtures are confirmed, and will remain subject to change based on the above scenario. Fixtures are initially scheduled to begin in March.

The top two from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals, which will be in a traditional knockout format.
