Lavery hits half-ton

Striker Darren Lavery hit his 50th goal in all competitions for Berwick during our 3-0 victory away at Clyde on Saturday.

The striker now sits 8th in Berwick’s list of all-time scorers, both in all competitions and in league matches only.

On the brace, the hitman noted that he was “delighted to contribute to a great team performance”.

And on hitting the landmark, the striker admitted it was a light relief after his teammates had been bringing it up.

“The lads have been talking and joking about it in the changing rooms, asking when I was gonna get the 50th, so it was good to get it today.”

The striker was also full of praise for winger Paul Willis, who assisted twice on the day.

“For the first I knew all I needed to do was find a bit of space in the area. Paul is good one-on-one and is capable of beating his man. It was a case of leaving him out there to do his thing. I didn’t need to do much as his ball was right on my foot.”

And Berwick’s top scorer noted his happiness with how January has gone thus far, and noted “We’ll be looking to push on into the play-off place. I definitely think we’ll get there.”
