Kamgna and Tambwe join the ‘Gers!

Talented free agent duo Miguel Kamgna and Richard Tambwe have signed for Berwick Rangers until the end of the season, having impressed as trialists in recent weeks.

Kamgna, 19, is a pacy winger who has previously been at Pollok and Kelty Hearts. Although primarily an Under 20s player at both clubs, Kamgna made his SPFL debut while at Kelty, coming off the bench in a League One clash with Peterhead in December 2022. He has been involved in the Berwick matchday squad as a trialist in a number of matches, coming off the bench against Edinburgh University and Gala Fairydean Rovers.

18 year-old Richard Tambwe came through the ranks at Motherwell, eventually being part of their B team squad until being released in 2023. As a striker, Tambwe came on in the second half in Saturday’s win at Tranent, creating a number of chances and showing he has a sharp eye for the goal.

Berwick manager Thomas Scobbie commended both players for their enthusiasm in training, along with the desire they both possess to improve. Scobbie added, ‘It is really good to get them on board, and Miguel and Richard will give us exciting options in the attacking area of the pitch.’

Both Kamgna and Tambwe have come to Berwick through the Scoutable United platform. Scoutable provides a showcase for unsigned, multi-ethnic Scottish talent. With a mission to create opportunities for home-grown ethnic minority talent, Scoutable United have been around since 2019 and are based in the Glasgow area. Since Berwick contacted Scoutable in November, they have been hugely supportive, and the club wishes to thank Scoutable United for their work in helping Miguel and Richard become Berwick Rangers players. Both Kamgna and Tambwe are among the most highly rated of Scoutables’ players, with SPFL clubs making offers to both players – but they have opted to sign for Berwick instead.

The club would also like to thank the Besom Inn in Coldstream for coming on board as Richard’s kit sponsor, and to FBI Ltd for sponsoring Miguel’s kit. It is always great to welcome new sponsors to the club, and so we are delighted to be linking up with the Besom Inn. FBI Ltd are one of the club’s most generous sponsors, both of the men’s team and the Community Academy, and the club greatly appreciates their continued support and loyalty.

Tambwe and Kamgna are both in contention to make their debuts as full Berwick Rangers players in Saturday’s league match against Civil Service Strollers at Shielfield. A large crowd is hoped for, with two strong Berwick performances in recent weeks, half priced tickets for fans who came to the last home game against Gala, and a free pie and hot drink for Club 1881 members.
