Harris here for next season

Midfield maestro Alex Harris has become the latest member of Stuart Malcolm’s playing squad to commit to another season at Shielfield Park, as the former Hibs and Falkirk winger signs a contract extension keeping him a Berwick Rangers player until the end of the 2023/24 season.

Although injury has led to several enforced spells on the sidelines so far this season, 28 year-old Harris is a regular starter when fit. He has played 19 times in all competitions so far this season, with two goals to his name – both coming in the home victory against East Stirlingshire in August. Last season Harris featured 31 times in all competitions, scoring 5 goals. His technical ability, range of passing and threat in the final third are all clear to see, and Wee Gers fans will now be able to see Harris’ talents at Shielfield for a third season.

Speaking after signing his contract, Harris said, ‘I am pleased to sign for another season. I’m enjoying my time here, and it is a good changing room to be a part of. The players and staff are all brilliant. I feel the club is moving in a positive direction, and hopefully we can push up the league in the last few months of the season. We’re aiming to finish as high as possible in the league as we can, and then kick on next season.’

Manager Stuart Malcolm added his own comments about Harris, saying, ‘He has been absolutely sensational. Alex has an excellent ability to get into good areas and create things from the wing. We are absolutely delighted to have signed ‘Boozy’ for another year.’

Alex Harris becomes the eighth Berwick player signed for next season. Joining him already are goalkeeper Calum Antell, defenders David Ferguson and Michael Travis, midfielders Grant Nelson and Jordan Sinclair, and Liam Buchanan and Lewis Allan in attack.
