‘Gers host Hibernian this evening
Shielfield Park will play host to the ‘Gers for the first time in the 2016/17 campaign this evening, as John Coughlin prepares to host Scottish Cup winners Hibernian.
Berwick Rangers Team News:
Supporters can expect to see a number of the club’s new signings in the playing squad this evening, with the likes of Kevin McKinlay, Steven Thomson and Jordyn Sheerin all set to be included.
There is likely to be some rotation in the squad after a busy weekend for the ‘Gers, which saw Berwick go down by two goals to one against Consett AFC on Saturday, before bouncing back with a 2-0 win against Ryton & Crawcrook Albion on Sunday.
Goalkeeper Sean Brennan may go up against his former club in what could be his first game at Shielfield Park.
Hibernian Team News:
Tonight’s match will be the first that new Hibs boss Neil Lennon has taken charge of. Neil has a good record at Shielfield, having guided Celtic to a 2-0 victory over the ‘Gers back in 2011.
The Hibees are preparing to begin their Europa League campaign next Thursday, and as such a strong side is expected to travel to Tweedmouth.
Former ‘Gers Danny Handling and Jordon Forster may feature, the pair having spent time on loan with Berwick a few seasons back. Forster signed a new two-year deal with the club yesterday morning.
However, Conrad Logan, Kevin Thomson, Farid El Alagui, Chris Dagnall, Niklas Gunnarsson, Liam Henderson and Anthony Stokes will not be in attendance having left the club over the summer.
