‘Gers draw Upper Annandale in South Region Challenge Cup Round Two

Berwick Rangers were drawn away to Upper Annandale AFC in Round Two this afternoon having received a bye for Round 1 of the Soccer Shop Direct Challenge Cup.

The fixture, initially scheduled for Saturday 21st November 2020, will see the ‘Gers aim to progress to Round 3 of the tournament in Moffat.

Upper Annandale were 12th of 16 in the South of Scotland Football League at its time of abandonment last campaign, though did have plenty of games in hand over their direct rivals around that time.

The tournament is more commonly known as the South Region Challenge Cup and is the major knockout for all non-SPFL clubs across the Lowland, West of Scotland, East of Scotland and South of Scotland leagues.

This represents the first year of the cup being named the Soccer Shop Challenge Cup owing to the maiden year of sponsorship by TheSoccerShop:Direct. Today’s draw was also the largest ever for the tournament, with 142 clubs in the hat.

Acting as the major knockout cup for all non-SPFL clubs in Lowland League territory, the tournament is filled with teams from the Lowland League, East of Scotland and West of Scotland leagues.
