‘Gers add Travis in loan deal

The club are today pleased to confirm the addition of 28 year-old defender Michael Travis from Forfar Athletic, in a loan deal that’ll last until January 6th.

Michael, a club captain at Station Park up until this summer, has fought off two serious injuries in recent years and has helped the Loons to three clean sheets in his seven appearances for the Angus side so far this season as he steps up his return to regular football.

The defender is no stranger to boss Stuart Malcolm, having been under his management during the gaffer’s time in charge of Forfar; where ‘Malks’ also assigned Travis some coaching responsibilities during his time out on the sidelines.

Speaking about the signing of Travis, Malcolm said: “Obviously I know Michael very well, I played alongside him and I had him when I was manager of Forfar.

“He’s got great defensive qualities, he’s great in the air in both boxes, quick and strong. I’m confident he’ll be a great addition to the squad, with his ability to play across the back four.”

Travis, who emerged as youngster at Livingston before playing 57 times for Arbroath, has racked up 169 appearances during his time with Forfar, and will now look to get a run of consistent run of games under his belt during his time with the Dream Team, potentially starting with Saturday’s cup fixture against Hill of Beath.

A league debut may arrive on 3rd December, when the ‘Gers travel to Gretna 2008, with a bow in front of The Ducket likely in our December 11th fixture at home to Broomhill.

The club would like wish Michael a warm welcome to Shielfield Park, and express its thanks Forfar for their assistance in getting the deal done.
