Forward Purves joins Dunbar on loan
As announced on Saturday, the club can confirm that forward Dan Purves has joined Dunbar United FC on loan until the end of 2021.
Purves will link up with former ‘Gers Assistant Manager Kevin Haynes at the club, while he will also play alongside his twin brother Jo, who left Berwick for Dunbar in the summer upon the expiry of his contract.
The 21-year-old, who was injured in pre-season and hasn’t featured for the ‘Gers yet this campaign, was signed prior to Dunbar’s weekend fixture against Linlithgow Rose and was named on the bench for the match.
When asked about Dan’s loan move after Saturday’s 3-2 defeat to East Kilbride, Manager Stuart Malcolm said: “Dan’s missed a lot of pre-season so we’ve decided to send him out on loan so he can come back to us fully fit and ready.
“We’ve not got any other teams – such as a reserve team or U20s team – to get our guys game time in so it’s difficult for us to give him that time he needs to get fitter and sharper.”
