Alfie Robinson is a ‘Ger!

A big, strong defender who’s good on the ball’. That’s how Berwick manager Thomas Scobbie describes new signing Alfie Robinson, who joins the club ahead of the 2024/25 preseason.

The 21 year old centre back has an impressive level of experience in spite of his young age, having featured regularly for Albion Rovers in SPFL League 2 at the start of his senior career, before playing for Cowdenbeath, Broomhill and Gretna 2008 in the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League.

‘Gers gaffer Scobbie said he was ‘delighted to get Alfie’s signing agreed and to get him through the door.’ Scobbie went on to add that Robinson has ‘bags of potential and lots of attributes that will add to our squad.’

Berwick fans will be hoping that Robinson makes a similar impact as another young centre back signed to the club 12 months ago – Callum Mackay, who won the club’s Young Player of the Year Award last season. Alfie joins a youthful and exciting intake of talent for the new campaign, with 23 year old Jonny Devers and 22 year old Arran Laidlaw already confirmed to be joining the club. These three fresh faces will join a well-established core squad when first team training resumes ahead of the preseason friendly campaign.

Supporters will get their first opportunity to see Alfie and the other new arrivals in action on Saturday 29 June, when Berwick entertain Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic at Shielfield Park, in a 3pm kick off. Club 1881 members will receive entry to all Berwick pre-season games as part of their membership, so sign up today to get the most value for money ahead of the 2024/25 season!
