Murrell extends Shielfield Stay
Striker Aaron Murrell has put pen to paper on a new deal which will see him remain at Berwick Rangers for 2018/19.
The striker first joined the club in January 2017, on a development loan from Dundee United. In his first five months, Murrell made 13 appearances and netted three goals for the ‘Gers. Murrell joined the club on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017 and went on to score six goals in 38 appearances throughout 2017/18.
Manager Robbie Horn is pleased to welcome Murrell back to Shielfield, and believes this season is an important one for the youngster: “Aaron has been weighing up us options but I’m happy that he sees his future at Berwick Rangers. People forget he is still only 20 and a lot has happened in his career in a short space of time. At times he’s shown what he is capable of, in particular at training, but he now needs to take this into his games. For me watching him he has great ability, a natural finisher and he knows what he needs to work on to improve. This is a big year for Aaron and it’s down to him to kick on and fulfil his potential.”
Murrell is the 15th member of the squad to sign up for 2018/19, which is taking shape ahead of the pre-season friendlies beginning in just a few weeks.
