Community coach hails Academy plans ahead of next presentation
Berwick Rangers Football Club will host another presentation for prospective BRFC Academy students his evening from 6pm in the JB Lounge at Shielfield Park, and community coach Matty Moor has become the latest figure to register his support of the project. Moor has already taken in the presentation himself, and admitted he was impressed by what he saw.

“The presentation provides an insight into the structure of the course. The course tutor Simon Dutson, who is also an ex-tutor of mine, enthusiastically explained the modules involved and what will be expected of students. In honesty, I sat there wishing I could enrol myself!”
Simon will be in attendance to deliver tomorrow’s presentation, and he will be joined by first-team boss John Coughlin and his captain Jonny Fairbairn, who will also field questions from students and parents. Matty continued:
“The Academy will ultimately provide a fantastic educational course for anyone interested in sports or football. It’ll also help to bridge the pathway from junior level to the first-team.
“On a personal level, I’ve been delighted to see the club develop it’s relationship with Berwick Juniors over the last few years.”
Moor also believes that the Academy will help the club to connect with the TD postcode area, as he continues: “The Academy will provide young people in the community a valuable opportunity to study that doesn’t already exist nearby.
“It is another step in the right direction. The club’s Community Foundation is already working in schools around the area, and more steps like these will only serve to strengthen ties with the community.”
Moor enrolled in a course similar to the Sport Diploma that the Academy will offer, and he is the perfect man to demonstrate that the course can provide more than enough experience and knowledge to go on and study at University.
“The Academy course is very similar to what I did at college. That provided me with the necessary qualifications to go on and study Sports Coaching at a degree level.
“So many paths will open up to the students once they finish the course – perhaps through further education. Sports Coaching and Sports Physiotherapy are just a couple of subjects that spring to mind, but there are plenty more, and that isn’t even considering opportunities outside of further education.”
Prospective students who can not make this evening’s presentation need not worry, with two further presentation dates confirmed as below. John and Jonny also hope to make these presentations to answer any enquiries:
