The club are delighted to confirm that they have made their first additions to the squad of the Summer in the form of 23 year old goalkeeper Kevin Walker and 24 year old midfielder Michael McKenna.
Kevin joins after a two year spell with Livingston where he’d spend most of his time deputising, though making seven senior appearances during his time at the club, including a clean sheet on his senior debut in a League Cup tie with Airdrieonians.
Kevin was ruled out of the majority of the first half of Livingston’s 2014-2015 campaign, with former Berwick stopper Paul Grant brought in on a short-term deal to cover for his injury during his time out.
However upon returning, Walker would reclaim his place in the matchday squad and found himself a part of a side which would go on to not only avoid relegation to League One, but also to win the Petrofac Training Cup in April.
The 6ft stopper joined Livingston after impressing as Stirling University’s number one during his time studying, and in fact dropped his studies a year prior to graduation to pursue his football career, a clear indication of his ambition.
The youngster will now be looking to recapture the impressive form that brought about his move to full-time football, whilst building on last season’s eye-catching form as Livingston’s first choice Development League side goalkeeper.
The versatile McKenna avoids a challenge against Championship winning Hearts
Midfielder Michael McKenna meanwhile featured on a much more frequent basis for the Lothian side, appearing in no less than 33 games for the Lions last season, most often from the left of midfield.
McKenna also joined Livingston from the non-league ranks, signing on from Musselburgh Athletic in the Summer of 2014, joining up with his former manager John McGlynn.
The left-footer, who manned the bench alongside Walker during the Petrofac Cup final spent time in the youth systems of Celtic, Hearts and Hibernian before taking a three year stint away from the game between the ages of 16-19, but swiftly adapted to the mens game, earning a call up to the Scotland Juniors international side.
Much like the teammate McKenna arrives with, the midfielder will now be aiming to make a place in Colin Cameron’s promotion-chasing first choice eleven his own.
