O’Connor back for next season
Kane O’Connor has committed to Thomas Scobbie’s squad for the 2024/25 season, as he continues his rehabilitation from the season-ending injury suffered against Sunderland in July.
The 22 year-old former Hibs and Brentford B player had impressed immensely in the pre-season games against Haddington and Hibernian B, and his injury has been a huge blow to the Dream Team in the current campaign. Since the summer, the club and its supporters have backed Kane in helping to pay for scans and an operation, and Kane has working hard with club physio Lizzie Martin to get ready for next season. All at the club are thrilled at the prospect of seeing Kane back on the pitch in black and gold once he is fit.
Dream Team manager Thomas Scobbie echoed these sentiments, saying, ‘Securing Kano’s future was a top priority for me once I became manager last month. He has been working relentlessly in rehab to ensure that he returns as strong as ever, and he has real quality on and off the ball. Kane is a fantastic guy, with a winner’s mentality and a drive for high standards that improves everyone around him.’
Kane himself reflected on a ‘difficult season’ personally, but was also keen to thank the club for looking after him, saying ‘Berwick have been good to me and signing on for next season gives me a bit of reassurance, so I was pleased to get this deal done now. I hope that when I’m fit I can show everyone at Berwick what I can do!’
Although Berwick have a weekend without a fixture coming up, Thomas Scobbie’s men will be back in action at Shielfield Park on Saturday 2nd December, against Caledonian Braves with a 3pm kick off. The club is open on Saturday evening for our race night fundraiser, with everyone welcome in JB Lounge from 6.30pm for what promises to be a fantastic night!
