Malks adds more experience in Stevenson
Berwick Rangers are pleased to confirm the addition of the vastly-experienced Jamie Stevenson, who joins from manager Stuart Malcolm’s former side East Kilbride. Jamie featured in his final game for his current side earlier today, where he signed off by helping The Kibly to victory in the FC United To Prevent Suicide Lowland League Cup Final.
Jamie, 37, has racked up over 300 senior appearances during his long career, which has seen him play with SPFL sides including Alloa Athletic, Greenock Morton, East Stirlingshire, Airdrie United, Cowdenbeath and Peterhead.
As well as a spell abroad at Mallorca B early in his career, Jamie also brings experience of our current league having enjoyed spells at Kelty Hearts and most recently East Kilbride.
Most of Jamie’s career has been spent in midfield, but in more recent years he has demonstrated his versatility and has shown he is also well capable of playing in defence, where he has regularly featured as a full back.
Manager Stuart Malcolm said: “Jamie comes in with a vast amount of experience over a number of levels. His professionalism, standards and game knowledge are second to none.
“I think he’s going to be an exceptional player for us. He has great technical ability, a fantastic range of passing and has scored a number of goals from midfield areas. We’ll be looking to play him in there as a defensive midfielder, helping us in the spine of the team.
“We’re absolutely ecstatic that we’ve got him over the line – he’s going to come and join us and help push us forward next season.”
