Board Update: July 24

For the fourth successive month, the Board of Directors met via Zoom to go over another fully packed agenda.

Covid-19 Compliance

With the focus soon to be turning towards some form of normality and the return of football, we were updated by Associate Director Gary Burns who has taken on the role of Covid Compliance Officer.

By taking on this role, Gary will ensure that all of the relevant controls, checks and plans are in place for not only the return to playing, but also the impending start of pre-season in Edinburgh.

Gary, ably assisted by fellow Associate Director Andrew Allan, have also been working with Peffermill and the Management Team to ensure that players returning to training in August follow the correct protocols. The Board of Directors were quick to commend Gary for his hard work to date.

Club 1881

It was recognised that the work led by Director Nathan Thompson and the media team to launch Club 1881 was already paying massive dividends.

At the time of publishing, Club 1881 had 63 members, of which only 21 (33%) are from Berwick. The rest are from out of town.

This support was noted as being gratefully appreciated by all at the club and another sign that our support are backing the work the Board of Directors are delivering upon.

First Team

The Board of Directors discussed matters on the park and with August fast approaching, the club are still in the hunt for a couple more additions to what looks like a squad full of talent and energy.

Indeed, at a recent First Team quiz night, the camaraderie and team spirt were excellent to see.

Recruitment of a Commercial Manager

It was also approved that the club will advertise on Monday, July 27 for a new part-time Commercial Manager, who will be accountable for leading the continued development of our commercial brochure and offering, as well as continuing to drive more income and sponsorship.

This forms another key role in the continued reshaping of the skills and capabilities needed within the club.

Foundation

The Board were updated that Warren Hawke and his team at the Foundation were nearing completion of their next set of trustee appointments and these would be ratified on August 3 and communicated out via the club’s social media pages.

Within the Foundation, the Women’s & Girls Programme had received an encouraging initial set of registrations for the taster days in August at Shielfield Park.

This week and the next two weeks coming have also seen the NUFC Foundation running their primary school programme at Old Shielfield.

Next Meeting

Our next Board Meeting in August will take place on Thursday, August 21. Please stay updated through our usual social media channels in the meantime.
