Barr commits to Berwick

Berwick Rangers Football Club is delighted to confirm that Lewis Barr will remain in black and gold next season, having agreeing terms on a new one-year deal at Shielfield Park.

The energetic midfielder, whose kit was sponsored by The Curfew Micropub during the 2019/20 campaign, is a popular figure amongst both the support and the playing squad at Shielfield Park.

In recent weeks, the club’s social media platforms have been bombarded with queries about Barr’s future, whilst key figures in the team also continued to cast a keen eye on the situation.

Any uncertainty was put to an end today when Lewis put pen to paper on a new deal, extending his stay with the ‘Gers having originally joined the club in December 2018 from Penicuik Athletic.

Lewis, who also spent time with East Fife as a youngster, has been a key figure in the heart of the Berwick midfield since his arrival and picked up no less than five prizes at this season’s annual awards, whilst also receiving a 2019/20 Team of the Year nomination from the Lowland League in May.

Towards the season’s premature end, Barr also featured in a more advanced position as manager Ian Little looked to see if he might strike up a partnership with forward Calum Smith.

Having putting pen to paper, Barr said:

“I am delighted to commit to Berwick for next season.

“I never thought that after just a season and a half that I would be held in such high regard and feel so at home at a football club.

“I will give everything I have to bring the good times back to Berwick.

“See you all soon”

Supporters of Berwick Rangers FC helped to secure the signatures of Barr and the rest of the playing squad for the new campaign via their contributions to the 1881 Fund, which closed as May ended.

Though the fund has now closed, supporters can still contribute further to the playing budget via our Donate A Ticket Scottish Cup fixtures. The draw for our next fixture, a quarter-final affair, will take place later this week.
