Smith happy to be off the mark
‘Gers forward Calum Smith admitted he was pleased to grab a goal in Berwick’s 2-0 victory over Edinburgh University last week.
Speaking to the official website, Calum said: “It was great to get the win last week.
“On a personal level I was glad to score. As a striker, you’re judged on goals and I’ve scored at every club I’ve been at, so it’s good to get off the mark.”
Boss Ian Little has already registered his delight with the forward’s efforts against Edinburgh Uni, saying it was “great to see” Smith net, whilst also backing the hitman to strike up a threatening partnership with talented midfielder Lewis Barr.
Yano also praised a healthy support at Shielfield Park last Saturday, and Smith echoed his manager’s thoughts on the crowd.
“It was a really good day for the club, collecting three points and attracting more than we usually might see into the stadium. I know the players appreciated the extra support on the day.
“Hopefully that can continue into the later stages of the season as we’ve got a run of a few big games coming up now.”
