YAW JOINS BERWICK

Berwick have snapped up 21 year old Ghanaian striker YAW OSEI OPOKU-BERCHIE (know as Yaw Osei) and he is set to join the club next week once a few logistical matters have been finalised and the most likely scenario is that he will be with the club for the game v University of Stirling .

He played as a trialist for Berwick in the recent close door game against Billingham Synthonia and netted the opening goal.

Yaw has been playing in England since leaving Raith Rovers in May 2018 although he had played as a trialist for Dundee United before moving South and last season was with Burgess Hill Town in the Isthmian Premier Division.

While at Raith he played twice at Shielfield in the SPFL/Reserve league impressing in both games. He made several first team appearances at Kirkcaldy but was a prolific scorer in their U 21 team netting 34 goals in his two seasons there.

Manager Ian Little commented “ We have been working away behind the scenes to sort out the paperwork and International clearance for Yaw this past few weeks through FIFA/SFA and FA and as normal these matters don’t always happen overnight. We were impressed with him in the close door game here and know full well of his record at Raith Rovers. He was keen to come back to play in Scottish football and very keen to join us. “

With thanks to the Supporters Trust and Supporters Club who have become sponsors of Yaw for the current season.
