Hamilton adds to defensive options

Chris Hamilton becomes the third player of the day to arrive on loan at Shielfield Park.

The 17-year-old arrives from Premiership side Heart of Midlothian, and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of teammates Andrew Irving and Marcus Godinho who enjoyed successful loan spells with the ‘Gers last season.

The defender moves to Berwick after a fantastic start to 2018. Hamilton, who only turned 17 in June, made his first team debut for Hearts at the end of the 2017/18 season before spending the summer with Scotland Under 21s, and former ‘Ger Robby McCrorie, at the Toulon tournament.

Manager Robbie Horn is happy to have another promising youngster arrive from Hearts: “Chris is someone that I’ve watched a fair bit of over the last year. Again he’s highly thought of at Hearts and has played at National level all the way up to 21s where he played in the Toulon tournament over the summer. He broke into the Hearts first team at the end of last season against Kilmarnock where he made his debut playing against Kris Boyd. Though only 5ft 9, his natural position is centre half but he can play also at right back and centre mid. He reads the game really well, is comfortable on the ball and tenacious in the tackle. Hopefully he does as well as the guys from Hearts did last year.”

As with Hurst and Dabrowski, Hamilton is expected to join up with the squad for tomorrow’s game.
