Berwick Rangers Football Club endorses the efforts of MGM Sports Coaching, a partner of the club and Community Foundation.
Back in January 2016, MGM created the first regular Walking Football sessions in the area, with weekly sessions at Longridge Towers. In the Summer months, the club have stepped up their support for the scheme by offering Old Shielfield as the venue.
Currently taking place at Longridhe Towers every Monday evening from 6.30-7.30pm, it costs £4 to particpate with equipment and bibs provided for all players.
People of all ages, sizes and abilities are encouraged to come along and play, get fit and enjoy a session where the emphasis is on fun.
On the concept, MGM Sports Coaching’s head coach Matty Moor stated: “It’s great fun. The ‘walking’ element allows for the creation of a level playing field for all involved. The beauty of that is that it helps to ensure a competitive environment for all players.
“But there’s no doubt it’s very testing, too. You must constantly think about your movement to try stay one step ahead of the game. There’s an arguement that by slowing things down, it introduces a more tactical battle.
“And of course, because of your constant movent, it makes for a great cardiovascular workout, too!”
Players are asked to enter via Gate A (Ducket side). For more information on the sessions, contact Matty on 07470 032 678.
