Watson Signs for Gers

Former Tranent and Caledonian Braves attacker Jamie Watson has signed for Berwick Rangers. The 29 year-old adds crucial Lowland League experience to Thomas Scobbie’s squad.

Watson was a Lowland League Cup winner with Tranent, and spent three and a half years at Alliance Park with Caley Braves before that. He has also played at Raith, Clyde and Albion Rovers amongst others, Jamie is sure to add know-how and skill to the Dream Team.

‘Gers manager Thomas Scobbie said, ‘I’m really pleased to have completed this deal. Jamie had a number of options, but we are delighted he sees his future at Berwick. He is a player who we had identified a number of months ago, but Jamie has been taking some time away from the game to go travelling. He is a player who has an excellent level of experience within the league. He is a player who can hold the ball up and bring others into play and also has an eye for goal. I’m sure he will be a success and add a great deal to the current group of players we have.’

Reinforcements are needed at Shielfield with 8 of the 22 man squad currently sidelined. The toll of 9 games in 29 days has caught up with the squad, and manager Thomas Scobbie is delighted to be adding Watson to the team for the rest of the campaign. Jamie is in line to make his Berwick Rangers debut tomorrow, against his old club Caledonian Braves, who visit Shielfield Park in a 3pm kick off.
