UOS vs BRFC 25-26 Match Report

Berwick finished a week of difficult games with a deserved 5-2 defeat at University of Stirling.

Greg Binnie had fired Berwick into an early lead but a defensive mix-up lead to Thomas Vonk smashing home an equaliser.

Binnie’s hard work earned him a second to give Berwick another lead but more slack play lead to Alex Jeanes tapping in another equaliser a minute later.

Berwick’s “embarrassing” capitulation was completed in the final 15 minutes when Finn Moffett took advantage of more poor defending to grab a hat trick.

Binnie back amongst the goals

The only positive of the afternoon was the brace from Greg Binnie.

The striker had been laid low with illness recently but looked sharp and his two goals came entirely from his willingness to harangue a Uni defence that has been leaking goals all season.

Berwick defensive woes continue

14 goals conceded in the last 4 league games. 9 league games conceding three or more.

Berwick’s defensive record, especially recently, has been poor and self-inflicted in large parts with slack play and poor decisions.
