University Of Stirling FC visit Shielfield

The games keep coming thick and fast as we take on the University of Stirling FC at Shielfield park on Saturday with a 3pm kick off. The goal hoodoo was well and truly smashed on Tuesday and the management team will be looking for the same again without the lapses in concentration this time.

University of Stirling are managed by long serving player Chris Geddes who took over from Shelley Kerr, the first woman manager of a men’s team in senior football. Shelley has gone to manage Scotland ladies national side. All told, the University has 6 football teams competing in various leagues with over 100 players registered. They make the trip south after losing their opening fixture away to Civil Service Strollers 1-0 in a close match.

Team news

Euan Smith is unavailable and Chris Gray and Jack Wright are doubtful with injuries picked up in the bruising encounter with Bonnyrigg. Dan Purves and Ciaren Chalmers both return. Assistant manager Kevin Haynes was pleased with some aspects of the team’s play on Tuesday but felt the team played too deep after the first goal and got punished.

1-0 to the Black & Gold.
