Under 20s fail to regain lead in Development League East

Last season’s champions Raith Rovers ran out winners by two goals in last night’s Development League East game at Starks Park.
A number of first team players were involved in the line-up but were unable to overcome a strong showing from the Kirkcaldy side.

Berwick lost Rose in the 10th minute with an ankle injury forcing an early change. Rovers took the lead in the 18th minute from Smith and Berwick had the chance to square things in the 34th minute from the penalty spot but Lavery’s effort went straight at the keeper and out to safety. Raith added a second goal in the 67th minute when Court showed pace to run on to a long through ball to slot his finish past Brennan.
Results elsewhere mean Berwick retain second place with Raith opening a four point gap.

The team’s next tie is on Sunday at home to University of Stirling in the Scottish Youth Cup and on the following Wednesday they host Livingston with a 7.45pm kick off.

A full match report will be posted later.
