Stevenson back for next season!

Versatile playmaker Jamie Stevenson has put pen to paper on a new contract, which means the former Greenock Morton, Alloa Athletic and Peterhead man becomes the latest confirmed member of Thomas Scobbie’s squad for the 2024/25 season.

‘Ted’ has started 51 games for the ‘Gers across the past two seasons, and has come off the bench a further 8 times. After briefly being forced to step away from football due to personal circumstances earlier in the season, Stevenson returned to Shielfield Park in December, and has been a key member of the team since then. By committing to Berwick for another year, Stevenson continues to contribute a wealth of experience from a football career spanning three decades – along with the vast array of skills which once impressed La Liga side Real Mallorca enough to sign the Glaswegian.

‘Gers manager Thomas Scobbie was delighted to have secured Jamie’s services for another season, saying, ‘He takes a lot of responsibility on his shoulders being one of the older lads in the squad, and makes sure that high standards are set. Jamie has been excellent since he came back to the club. I spoke to him to ask if he wanted to continue playing, and I think the enjoyment he has had since December has been a big factor in him staying. He is an important player for us, and is able to play in a number of positions. He’s a great presence in the dressing room, and the younger lads can learn a lot from having someone like Jamie around.’

Jamie Stevenson and the rest of the Berwick Rangers squad will enjoy an Easter weekend without football, but will be back in action at Shielfield Park on Saturday 6 April, as the ‘Gers take on Linlithgow Rose in a 3pm kick off.
