There is no doubt that Saturday’s performance was incredibly disappointing, especially given the financial boost that progressing in the Scottish Cup provides which is vital to all lower league clubs.
However if our club is to progress going forward our definition of success must take into account a broader spectrum of criteria.
John’s immediate work in building a youth structure which is better than has ever been seen at Shielfield Park is admirable.
In addition to that, the first-team still retain a positive position in League Two, sitting one point off the play-off spots in 5th place, unbeaten in four games and away from home and also maintaining the league’s best defensive record.
The board are of the belief that despite Saturday’s result, there has still been significant progress made in a short period of time and fully believe that, in John, we have the best person to take the club forward.
