Shielfield clubs unite for Christmas appeals

Berwick Rangers and Tweedmouth Rangers, together with the Berwick Rangers Supporters Trust and Supporters Club, are pleased to reveal the details of two Christmas appeals, which will benefit the community in the run up to the festive season – but we need your help!

With the support of Ged’s Butchers and Angela Brown, the two clubs are organising the delivery of Christmas meals to the homes of the elderly and vulnerable.

We would like fans to nominate anyone in Berwick, Tweedmouth, Spittal, East Ord or Scremerston that you feel would benefit from a complimentary three course Christmas dinner delivered straight to their door.

Once we have your nominations, Berwick Rangers and Tweedmouth Rangers will organise the making of these meals, and their delivery. If you would like to nominate someone to receive an extra bit of Christmas cheer in the form of a dinner, please email club@berwickrangers.com with their name and address.

The clubs are also joining forces with the Salvation Army’s Berwick centre as part of their annual Christmas present appeal.

If you are able, we would like fans to bring a gift with them to a Berwick or Tweedmouth home game in December, which we will ensure ends up under the Christmas tree of children who otherwise might not receive presents this year. We would like donations of new, unwrapped toys.

Berwick fans can deliver toys to the main club office before the home matches against Dalbeattie Star on Saturday 3rd December or against Edinburgh University on Saturday 10th December. Tweedmouth fans can hand in their donations to any matchday volunteer at the home games against Peebles Rovers on Saturday 10th December or Craigroyston on Saturday 17th December.

Once the clubs have received your donations, we will ensure these are delivered to the Salvation Army in plenty of time to be unwrapped by children on Christmas morning.

The Salvation Army have produced a list of recommended donations (new and unwrapped), which you may find helpful:

  • 0-3 years:  dolls, teddy bears, cot mobiles, baby clothes, bath toys, CDs of suitable music and nursery rhymes, puzzles
  • 3-5: dolls and action figures, cars, lorries, DVDs and CDs (music and nursery rhymes), colouring sets, pencils, crayons, books, puzzles
  • 5-9: educational games & toys, stationery (colouring sets, pencils, crayons, school sets), CDs & family friendly DVDs, books, puzzles, wordsearch, crosswords
  • 9-12: games and toys, stationery, DVDs, books, t-shirts, hair accessories, gloves, scarves, hats
  • 13-16: books, make-up and toiletries (please try to ensure non-allergic ingredients if possible), gloves, scarves, hats, t-shirts, hair accessories and gift vouchers

As a final reminder, Tweedmouth Rangers are offering all pensioners free entry and a hot drink for either of their home matches in December, on the 10th and 17th.

We would love to see plenty of fans come to Shielfield Park or Old Shielfield in December, to cheer on our two clubs on the pitch, and spread some festive goodwill off it. So please nominate someone for a free meal, donate a present, and come watch some football. Merry Christmas!
