Scott-Taylor returns to Shielfield!

Central midfielder Scott-Taylor Mackenzie has joined Berwick Rangers for a second spell at the club, as he signs from Penicuik Athletic for an undisclosed fee.

The 28 year old is well known to Berwick fans for his first stint in black and gold, in the 2021/22 season. Mackenzie scored 5 goals in 14 starts (with 2 additional appearances as a substitute) before departing Shielfield for Hutchison Vale in February 2022. His signing adds further skill and steel into the heart of the Berwick midfield, along with a goal threat – Mackenzie finished as fourth highest scorer in the truncated 2020/21 Lowland League season when at Gala Fairydean Rovers.

Berwick manager Thomas Scobbie said he was delighted to welcome Mackenzie back to the club, adding, ‘Scotty is a player with great ability but more importantly a great attitude and a winner, and someone who wanted to come back to Berwick. I’m sure the fans will be happy to see him return, and we can’t wait to get him involved with the squad.’

Scott-Taylor is unavailable for Saturday’s lunchtime trip to Crossgates Primrose, due to being cup tied, and so is in line to make his second Berwick debut in front of home fans on Saturday 28 December against his old club Gala. This game is a 3pm kick off, and we would love to see a bumper Shielfield crowd welcome Scotty back to the club!
