Robinson Retained

Popular defender Alfie Robinson has signed a one-year extension to stay at Berwick Rangers until the end of the 2025/26 season, meaning he will be able to build on a promising debut year in black & gold.

Alfie made steady progress as he settled into the club, becoming a mainstay of the defence under Kevin Haynes from January. He made 33 appearances in all competitions in 2024/25, with 31 of those in the starting XI. Alfie also scored 2 goals – including a memorable late header to win a point at home against Gretna 2008 in February. He has also proven a fan favourite among our young ultras, and for supporters in the lounges post-game, who are often keen to chat to Alfie or get a photo or autograph. It’s a rare thing to grab Alfie for an interview without an entourage of young fans following him!

Berwick manager Kevin Haynes was delighted to agree personal terms with Alfie and have the 22 year-old Glasgow-based defender confirm his place in the squad for next season.

“Alfie is a composed and committed defender, earning plaudits for his consistency, work ethic, and no-nonsense approach at the back. His ability to read the game, his physical attributes in both boxes and his calmness under pressure have made him a great asset in the defensive unit’, said Haynes.

‘During my time at the Wee Gers, Alfie has shown continuous development and a real desire to grow within the club’s environment. His dedication, both on and off the pitch, has not gone unnoticed, and his re-signing is a clear indication of his desire to develop his promising career at the club’, the manager added.

Having initially committed to a single season on amateur terms, everyone at the club is delighted to see Alfie extend for another season and move to a professional contract. Manager Kevin Haynes has been busy securing further contract extensions and new signings, with more news on the 2025/26 squad to follow for ‘Gers supporters soon!
