Pyper agrees extension!
Berwick Rangers are delighted to announce that club captain Jamie Pyper has agreed a one year contract extension, meaning Jamie will stay at the club until the end of the 2026/7 season.
With 17 starts in 2025/6 so far, only goalkeeper Liam Campbell and midfielder Kyle Somers have appeared in the starting lineup more often than Jamie. His 87 starts and 101 total appearances make him the second most experienced player at the club, behind Calum Antell. With his contract now extended for another year, ‘Gers fans can look forward to seeing the 32 year old in action in the heart of the Berwick defence many more times.
For manager Kevin Haynes, securing Jamie’s signature was a core aim with preparations for next season in mind. ‘As our captain, Jamie is the leader of our group and a very popular figure in the dressing room. Fans can see the quality and commitment that Jamie brings in everything he does, so I felt it was really important to get the skipper signed again for next year.’
Pyper himself added, ‘I’m thrilled to be offered a new deal, and looking forward to continuing to play at Shielfield in front of the fans!’
The club also thanks Cheeklaw Garage Duns for their sponsorship of Jamie, and their continued support of the club. Jamie and the rest of the ‘Gers side are next in action this Saturday (13th December) as Broxburn Athletic visit MKM Shielfield Park in a 3pm kick off.
