Preview: ‘Gers boost squad ahead of Angus trip – Montrose v Berwick Rangers – SPFL Ladbrokes League Two
Berwick Rangers have today added young defender Craig Halkett to their squad in an attempt to shore up a defence that was left exposed following a 4-1 defeat to Annan Athletic last weekend.
Berwick Team News:
There is good news for gaffer Colin Cameron with Halkett adding to his defensive options. Halkett arrives in a one-
month emergency loan deal, though there is an option to extend the temporary transfer if need be.
Rangers youngster Craig was on loan at Clyde during last season, making 10 league appearances, and also has Scotland U19 experience.
And minus long-term absentees Euan Bauld and Calum Helm, the manager has a full squad available to him with Charlie Denton, David Banjo and the manger himself all shaking off knocks sustained in recent weeks.
Montrose Team News:
Montrose also head into the clash at Links Park at almost full strength much to the undoubted pleasure of boss Paul Hegarty.
Montrose have enjoyed an improved start to their 2015/2016 campaign following a disappointing previous year.
With the Gable Endies currently sat in 4th, a win for Berwick would see them leapfrog the Mo into the play-off spots, however it won’t be easy with the home side having won four of five home games, and Berwick winning just once on the road so far this season.
But whilst Montrose have also just added further stability to their team with the news that young stopper Jordan Miller, a St Johnstone loanee, will be extending his stay until the end of this campaign, there are doubts over the young ‘Keepers fitness ahead of this tie after being substituted in a midweek U20 tie with a rib injury.
Match Odds:
Despite Montrose’s fine home form, it is the side in Black and Gold who’ll start as favourites in tomorrow’s clash – perhaps owing to the fact that Berwick are unbeaten in three league ties.
Montrose – 13/8
Draw – 5/2
Berwick Rangers – 7/5
Match Officials:
Kevin Graham will take charge of the battle, and will be assisted by both Stuart Stevenson and Tony Kelly.
If you’re making the trip, safe journey & enjoy the match – let’s hope for a better result than last week!
