Preview: Berwick Rangers v Montrose – Ladbrokes League 2

The ‘Gers open their SPFL Ladbrokes League Two campaign by welcoming Montrose to Shielfield Park, an opposition who secured their place in the league after winning the first ever League Two relegation play-off final.

Berwick Rangers Team News:

Despite an unsurprising amount of sore legs on Sunday and Monday following our extra-time victory over Championship side Alloa Athletic, Colin Cameron will once more be able to pick his team from an almost full squad – with the exception of Steven Notman and Euan Bauld.

Euan Bauld is currently out with a back injury

However, club therapist Jenna Orr reports: “Stevie is progressing very well, I’ve been delighted with his progress”, so it would appear that the midfielder isn’t too far from a return either.

It remains to be seen how the boss will line-up, but with Darren Lavery netting a screamer in his return to the starting eleven and a central role, it may be safe to assume he’ll feature once more.

David Morris will also be pushing for a place after his introduction helped to change the game against Alloa.

Supporters are also reminded that they are welcome to join the players post-match on Saturday in the Sponsors Lounge for a drink.

Montrose Team News:

After a disappointing campaign last time out, Montrose boss Paul Hegarty believes that his side have strengthened enough to not only avoid relegation play-offs, but to make those for promotion.

The Angus side are yet to taste victory yet, despite battling performances against both Hibernian and Forfar Athletic in cup action.

But Hegarty , who has a full squad available to him, believes that can change tomorrow, declaring: “We’re heading to Berwick confident.”
